Set against the backdrop of the beautiful English Riviera Geopark, Torbay has long been one of the most popular sailing venues in the UK with sheltered waters from the North, West and South. Over the years, it has been the venue for countless prestigious regattas, famously being the sailing venue for the 1948 Olympics. More recently, Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club, Brixham Yacht Club, Paignton Sailing Club and Royal Torbay Yacht Club have all hosted a number of professionally run major National and International Championships and regattas.
Now entering its 5th year, Torbay Week has become one of the premiere sailing regattas in the South West. Jointly organised and run by the four local sailing and yacht clubs, Torbay Week brings together a wealth of knowledge and expertise resulting in an enjoyable and competitive event open to all types of Dinghies and Yachts. Racing is divided into four main groupings, IRC yachts, Keel boats, Dinghies and Junior Dinghies, with each course managed by an experienced race management team. Races are held each day for most boat classes and there are social events hosted by the four clubs in the evenings. For those not taking part on the water, the horseshoe shape of the bay provides plenty of opportunities for close-up spectating. There are also a host of other attractions and land based activities available.
This year, we are pleased to welcome the Laser 4000 and Seascape 18 sailors who have selected Torbay Week as the ideal venue for their UK National Championships.
In addition, when it comes to the Great British seaside holiday, Torquay, Babbacombe, Paignton and Brixham are the complete package. With stunning beaches, award-winning attractions and incredible scenery, you can enjoy a holiday that’s friendly, fun and great value for money any time of year on the English Riviera, South Devon’s beautiful bay. Bring your friends and family with you during Torbay Week for the perfect break.
The event is supported by the English Riviera Tourism Company and the Torbay Harbour Authority.
